Recycling
Time is short before we leave for TN for the holidays, and I feel like there are not enough hours to get done with all I need to do, but I had to break from my to-do list when I got home, because Montgomery County delivered the recycle bins I requested! Now I don't have to feel like a poseur at work...since I'm on our sustainable design committee. I already got a good-natured ribbing about my continued use of aerosol hairspray; I figured I'd get kicked off completely if anyone knew that the recycle bin that came with our house is being used to store garden supplies. Our new bin (for glass & metals) and rolling cart (for paper & cardboard) are exciting and inspire me to not hate the earth and, by extension, America. I can't wait to finish my box of cereal so I can throw it in my shiny new wheeled cart! And now that I have the rules in print, we won't have the situation that soured us on recycling three years ago--when Mo. Co. sanitation engineers dumped out our recyclables on our lawn two weeks in a row. I realize now it was just their way of saying it was not kosher to mix paper with glass/metals. At the time, I interpreted it as a middle finger to the new southern transplants! I'm going to go have a bowl of cereal.
